Dale-to-Dale Ragdale Ring Competition March 2018
Dale-to-Dale unfolds on two stages and in two communities: Ragdale and North Lawndale. On the Ragdale Ring stage, Dale-to-Dale’s versatile design creates an enchanting space that integrates natural elements with Ragdale’s spacious lawns, gardens, and prairie land. From there, audiences can enjoy the summer and falls sunsets over the prairie. Actors, readers, and performers move from the end of the paved axis that leads from the original Ring gate to the lawngate, and through the English garden.
In the late fall, Dale-to-Dale finds its permanent home as the central architectural element on the half-acresite of a new urban food forest and
micro-orchard in North Lawndale. There, CCA Academy, an alternative charter high school, is developing a unique experiential learning place for urban agriculture and permaculture. When reinstalled in the food forest, Dale-to-Dale provides CCA Academy students the elements to co-design a dynamic gathering place that emulates the principles of permaculture.
